For the purposes of the ball, President Warder had brought in Victor all the way from Los Angeles to tend to the wet bar, which had newly been installed into the Oval Office. Looking everything over, Rick grinned to Claudia. "Ready?"
Claudia, draw away from looking over the curtains by Rick’s familiar voice, mirrored his grin, quickly and silently making sure her appearance was at its best before answering, "We’re ready as we’ll ever be."
Already, Retton and Oswald had replied; the rest would trickle in throughout the evening. Though he didn't tell anyone, Warder's secret objective to the ball was to one-up Bill Clinton on questionable uses of the White House. The wet bar was just the beginning. "Great, sweet. Make sure the staff isn't goofing off or anything, eh?"
Rick went out the door, leaving Claudia behind for now, narrowing his eyes at the first server he spotted. "You there - Are you following all of Victor's orders?" The man, in his early 20s, managed a 'Yes, sir'.
After watching Rick withdraw with, Claudia smiled silently to the staff, deciding to reassure them that the president wasn’t as bad as he acted. Somewhat self-consciously, Mrs. Warder moved across the floor with practiced grace, balanced in black high-heeled shoes.
At the wet bar, she leaned over to whisper conspiratorially to Victor: "Make sure he doesn't get carried away, huh?" Claudia’s gaze swept over their collection of poisons. A minor worry, perhaps, but it aided to drown her constant anxiety with the excitement her husband inspired.
Mrs. Warder slipped out of the Oval Office as well, smoothing a fold in her light beige evening dress, preferring to be by Mr. Warder's side when the guests indeed began trickling in.
OOC: Thanks go to a friend of mine for co-writing Claudia's part of this.

Rick McLaughlin showed up precisely on time. Barbara Bush, the former President's daughter, was at his side. The two had been dating on-and-off for the past year, but had yet to make any formal steps further.
The White House Usher showed the two into the state floor, and down the cross hall into the East Room. It was beautifully decorated. It was widely known in Washington social circles that Claudia Warder had great taste.

As Mr. McLaughlin walked in through the door, Mr. Warder took his hand and gave it a hearty shake. "Welcome! I'm glad you could make it. So, having fun herding the cats in Congress?"
Barbara Bush struck a stunning note at his side, and Mr. Warder shook her hand and then drew her into an embrace - drawing an askance glance from Mrs. Warder. "Nice to see you two getting along," the older Mr. Warder said, causing Barbara Bush to blush slightly.
There was great commotion in the back of the White House as the caterers and staff went about preparing everything for the buffet and dance later on.

Rick McLaughlin smiled as he shook President Warders' hand. As the President greeted Barbara, Rick walked towards Claudia. "You look wonderful, Mrs. Warder." he leaned in to kiss her cheek. "Simply elegant, as is the White House, as always."
(OOC: I should have Rick grab her butt or something lol)

Mrs. Warder didn't object to the hug, but laughed at the kiss to her cheek - "Mr. McLaughlin, isn't one woman enough for you? I've heard you and Uxbridge were tearing up the Georgetown Strip not too long ago."
In the meanwhile, President Warder decided to leave the greeting and hobnobbing to his wife. He waved briefly to Majority Leader McLaughlin and then angled down the hallway, taking stock of the ballroom and banquet hall. A jazz trio was in one corner and a standing buffet in the other, with round tables distributed throughout the middle of the room. It looked like it would be a wonderful evening.

Rep. Green walked into the ball wearing a white tux. He chuckled about not wearing white after Labor day but what the hell, Ken was the rebellious one allready. He began mingling the room talking with senators on the far right, encouraging and lifting them up. Thanking them for the support as of late..

Oswald had arrived early along with his wife Barbara Oswald. "Mr. President, Claudia, its nice of you to have us," he said upon arrival. The four exchanged pleasantries and quickly dispersed to mingle among the other guests as more people began to arrive. Oswald leaned on his cane with one hand and escorted his wife in with the other hand. The two sat down and began chatting with Washington's leading lawmakers.

Congressman Ethan Hall hooked his wife Sarah's arm and stepped out of their rented car. They strode into the White House to find President Rick Warder and his beautiful wife Claudia standing by the door. Smiling broadly, Hall extended his hand to Warder, "Good to see you again, Mr. President. Thank you so much for inviting all of us here, it certainly means alot to me." Warder greeted him similarly, after which Sarah gave him a quick hug. The pair stepped into the ball to see various Congressmen and women milling around.
Ethan looked to Sarah, "Not many Democrats here, are there?"
She smiled slightly, "There aren't many in Congress, honey."
