NEW YORK CITY- Security was tight earlier today at the New York Stock Exchange as Vice President Edgar Oswald rang the closing bell. Following heightened tensions in the Middle East and an elevated terror alert level, many parts of the country has seen beefed up security especially along mass transit lines and in major cities like New York.
New York city police patrolled the block and traffic was brought to a slow crawl in the area as cars were rerouted. The Vice President's visit for the most part drew little attention from city residents, however.
The DJIA finished slightly down (-1.34) amidst heighten violence in Israel and a deterioration of conditions in the Middle East.
