Rep. Jack Jenkins Visits Alabama army Base with Veterans
FORT RUCKER, AL – Jack Jenkins went on a field trip yesterday, visiting the Army Aviation HQ at Fort Rucker along with the members of the Alabama AMVETS. He took the veterans on a tour of the facility, showing them around the facilities and choppers, and then returned to their hall for a reception where he held a small fundraiser while talking about the military spending and strategy of the Republican Government, as well as the rights of veterans. Excerpts from his speech follow:
“These Republicans just brought the latest military R&D bill in the house to a vote the other day. This is a bill that ignores the common soldier in the field. It is a bill that promotes waste with little progress. They are continuing programs that originally were already supposed to be paying dividends from work done a decade ago, and yet nothing has happened."
"I fully support the Research and Development of new technologies for the military, but I cannot in good conscience support this flawed bill. I am going to fight for reform in this area so that our men are well-equipped with the newest technology, but at an efficient price so that the rest of our great country does not suffer while defense contractors piss billions of your tax dollars down the drain while making no progress.”
“Warder and the rest of the Republican cons have ignored the plight of the veteran for too long. I am going to fight for your rights, for better pensions, for better health coverage, and for housing for homeless vets. I refuse to rest while men such as yourselves see the budgets for your VA hospitals and other benefit programs flat line while the Military ignores you and routinely doubles the budget for a project that may never even be finished.”
