VP Oswald and former VP Cheney speak at Nat'l Security Fundraiser
(major fundraiser)
CHENEY: "The War on Terror has entered its second phase. With Iraq becoming more and more secure, it now faces greater external problems than internal. Iran is bullying its neighbors and flexing its might after it successfully tested two nuclear devices near the Afghani border. Iran has acted recklessly in recent weeks, and we will not allow the world's most dangerous regimes to possess the world's most dangerous weapons. It has been proven that the old way of doing pinprick strikes to get at the root of terrorism did little; now, we are going after terrorists and supporters of terrorists wherever they plot and hide."
OSWALD: "There are several pieces of agenda that Republicans are working towards passing that will better help us defend America. We need a more unified National Intelligence structure. Right now, there is a breakdown in communications between the FBI, CIA, and all the rest. Efforts to improve the system have been neglible at best. What we need is a national intelligence agency under one single command structure so that there is more cohesion between the branches of our country's intelligence agencies."
"We also need to give the President the authority to use force against Syria & Iran. Other measures like the Defense Research & Development Act, the Anti-Terrorism and Port Security Act, and the Armed Services Reorganization have all been presented by my Republican constituents to see that our military forces are up-to-date and organized in a manner to act. We also want to make sure our ports are safe so that our goods we purchase don't contain hazardous materials or dangerous weapons that they shouldn't contain."
"To put it simply, when it comes to defending our country; the Republican Party will be first in line every time. I urge you to contribute to this cause, that those Republican in the House of Representatives may continue to serve so that they have the opportunity to partake in some of this groundbreaking legislation."
