Event Two: Nogales, Arizona Location: Border Patrol Station Topic: Border Security
McLaughlin greets Border Patrol Officers. He receives a brief on the local border security situation, then speaks to the all of the officers.
First of all, thank you for all that you do. The country is in your debt. To secure our homeland, there is no greater importance than securing our borders.
Homeland security begins at the border. I want to make it clear that if I am elected, I will work to provide the technology, equipment and financial resources necessary to seal our border. In the War on Terror, many people want to harm our great nation. To do this, they want to plot from within. We cannot let them in! We must seal the border from terrorists trying to enter the United States. We must reform immigration laws to make the border more secure, more safe, and to make sure the Border Patrol can do their job effectively.
Thank you, and may God Bless America.

DNC Major Newspaper Ad, LA Times West Coast, Full Page $1,000,000 "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore; Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"Remember when these words used to mean something?"Republican Leader Rick McLaughlin wants to 'seal the border'. Republican Senator Uxbridge has called for a massive, multi-million dollar security fence to be built along the Mexican border. All the experts say this fence would be ineffective and a waste of money. That doesn't stop the Republicans from wanting one anyway. Republican William "Whitie" Power's speech " Keeping our Kinsmen Klean" in Texas should stand as an example to all Americans of the sort of positions the Republican Party advocates. The Republicans voted to reduce aid by 50% to foreign countries, but propose we spend huge sums of money to keep the immigrants fleeing poverty out. What the Republicans forget is that America is a nation founded on immigrantion. Every new wave of immigrants to this country have been greeted with hostility, but they have all been incorporated into our great culture just the same. The Republicans claim they're trying to fight Terrorism, but they're really just afraid. Show them that you're not afraid. Show them that there is never any excuse for discrimination or racism. Stand up and vote Democrat for safer, reasonable border dispute solutions that keep terrorists out while letting immigrants in. Come Election Day, tell the Republican Party that you're tired of paranoia and hostility. Vote Democrat for reasonable immigration policies and a strong, positive America." New Voter Registration West Coast Region $2,500,000
The Democratic Party has been working throughout the Southwest and West Coast to get hordes of new voters registered before the coming House elections. A large part of their work has been amongst the burgeoning Latin American population, due to their normal low levels of turn out. The Democrats have been getting involved at a very grassroots level: going door to door and attending local church services as well as visiting community centers.

Major Endorsement: Former President Bill Clinton West Coast $5,000,000
The Democratic Party has recruited President William Clinton to promote their cause and drum up support for the Democrats in the coming House elections. Bill Clinton, President during what many consider to be a happier time, seems to command ever growing respect and admiration amongst Americans.
Clinton has been making the rounds on the West Coast, appearing at voter registration booths, speeches and rallies, as well as doing radio and TV interviews. In a more humorous turn of events, at one event in San Francisco, Clinton walked out on stage and was unable to speak at all due to the pure volume of clapping and cheering. Democratic event organizes dragged the dazzled and smiling Clinton off stage, and out of sight of his many admirerers in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the minute the good natured former President came back on stage the cheering doubled in intensity. A local newspaper carried the headline: "DNC Tactic: Have Bill Wave."

Couple: "So are we." Narrator: "The Republican Party has a confession to make to America." CHAIRMAN MCLAUGHLIN: "It's true. The Republican Party is fiscally responsible. And like a lot of Americans, that means we're concerned about how your tax dollars are spent! In Washington, D.C., the Republican Party just approved the most fiscally responsible budget in decades. We've cut over 90 billion dollars from the deficit, given you permanent tax relief and ensured important areas like education and our military were well funded." Narrator: "Be fiscally responsible! New Voter Registration West Coast / Southwest Region $2,500,000
The Democrats continued their voter registration push on the West Coast and in the South West, holding huge block parties and rallying supporters throughout the region.
Party spokespeople who spoke to the press seemed to be having a lot of fun. One interviewed man from Southern California told TV reporters "IT'S A FIESTA!" before running off to join a crowd of other Californians dancing in a throng to blaring salsa music. The Democrats have apparently decided to adopt a positive, hyped up attitude for the coming election. We will see whether the attitude pays off.

Rally Volunteers West Coast / South West Region $5,000,000
The party faithful turned out in large numbers to support the election drive of the Democratic Party on the West Coast and in the South West. At the large, Democratic sponsored registration parties throughout the region, volunteers passed out information slips and forms to those who seemed interested and began assembling a brand new volunteer force to help out in the coming elections.
Democrats told reporters that the results of their efforts had been, "Very promising" and were glad to see that so many Americans were as devoted to kicking the Republicans out of the House as they were.

Minor Event: Democratic Rally; Los Angeles, California West Coast / Southwest Region
Representative Reynolds spoke, along with several other Democratic politicians, in front of a packed crowd of Californians.
"Morning friends! Looks like its a fine day outside. The sun is shining and, look, the Republicans have already started to complain about the evil immigrants crossing the border."
*laughter*
"I'm telling you, I just don't understand it. Every single one of us here who isn't 100% Native American is an immigrant. Where would we be now if the Republicans had their way back then, eh? I certainly wouldn't be here enjoying California's sunny weather. Did you know it's 10 degrees below freezing in Chicago right now? You lucky dogs.
"I'm gonna make this quick, because we all have things we'd rather be doing than standing around here. The Republicans claim they want to make our country stronger. Now, I've only been in Los Angeles a few hours and I can already tell you something they've done horribly wrong. Look at the traffic here! I'm amazed you guys make it to work every day without shooting someone. Well, at least I'm amazed that some of you do. I'm looking at you, in the front row, buddy! I saw that shifty look."
*loud laughter*
"Seriously folks, the Republicans want to pay for their pet programs by cutting YOUR transportation budget. Don't let them. I think you guys have a rough enough commute as it is. Vote Democrat and we'll help you get where you're going on time. Good night and God Bless!"

National Ad - West Coast Region: $500,000 dollars "Fiscal Responsibility"VOICE OF JACK JENKINS: I'm Jack Jenkins, former colonel in the U.S. Army Rangers, and now a congressman from Georgia. I've seen a lot of things in my time, but nothing like the last ten years of Republican Rule. They've shown the United States the biggest deficit in history.JACK JENKINS: They've taken 5 billion dollars of your money, and in three years time thrown it at a corporation who was going to build a new radio for the military. That radio was never finished, and that 5 billion dollars was wasted with no return on the investment.JACK JENKINS: And they've refused to aid in the recovery of one of the worst natural disasters in the history of the United States.JACK JENKINS: And now they're telling you that they're beacons of fiscal responsibility. Increasing Defense Spending on projects that are wildly over budget is not responsible. Neither is cutting family spending so you can increase the defense budget while claiming you've made a responsible budget. Neither is abandoning your citizens when they need you most. Who stopped that irresponsible Defense Bill? Who has repeatedly called for an end to government waste, and an increase in family values? Who led the relief efforts in the South in the wake of Hurricane Katrina? The Democrats. Leading the Charge to a Better America. Use your vote on Election Day, and Do Your Part to make America great again.
