Mr. Speaker, thank you for the invitation to speak before the House of Representatives. I welcome this opportunity to go into detail regarding the MAJOR procurement programs currently slated for the upcoming year. I welcome questions, suggestions, and constructive comments from all Representatives. I look forward to working with the individuals here to craft legislation that provides service members with the proper tools to defend this nation.
I would hope that those Representatives who have used previous defense appropriation hearings and military venues for partisan political purposes, without a shred of an alternative idea, come back on track and not "Go Murtha". We value the past sacrifice of all who have served, but for politicians to use it as a cover for partisanship simply because they are in the minority is disingenuous and despicable.

Mr. Secretary,
We thank you once again for your time and attention here in the house. We hope that your answers here will provide a basis for the passing of this legislation, and prevent the bipartisan defeat that your Research and Development effort did. We appreciate the need to upgrade our military, and your efforts in trying to do so, we just wish for you to answer questions regarding the direction of our military's efforts, and regarding the cost of these programs for the taxpayer. Thank you once again.
I yield
