Chinese Authorities Reject Patent Breach Accusations
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Secretary of the Treasury Phil Kurtzner accused the People's Republic of China of "wanton violations of U.S. intellectual property, ranging from the duplication of pirated CDs to the wholesale ripping off of engineering designs." Secretary Kurtzner's comments drew a firestorm from the press, who claimed that the new administration was heading on a "collision course" with mainland China.
"Now that China is a WTO member, they will have to abide by the regulations of the treaty to which they are a party," said Sec. Kurtzner.
