Swift Calls for Diplomatic Action - Not Militaristic Representative Chase August Swift Representative for New York 14th Authorized by Diana Windsor
"We'll all agree, the Iran situation is turning really ugly, really quick. But that doesnot mean we should return in quick force and send in the army. Should President Rick Warder sign the Authorization of Force Resolution against Syria & Iran and then deploy troops into Iran, there will be consequences. These consequences will be dead soldiers, letters to their families, and a national embarrassment. I will not stand here in Congress and accept that. The most depressing sight is seeing dead soldiers being given to their families. I refuse to support the Use of Force Authorization Resolution until all our other options are dry.
"That means action and sanction in the United Nations first. We must introduce resolutions sanctioning Iran and forcing them and the nation of Syria to arms inspections. Should the Iranian government be so stupid as to attack UN arms inspectors, I know many nations will join in a force against Iran together instead of a rash action taken by a trigger-happy President."

Re: Senator Uxbridge's Power Rant Representative Chase August Swift Representative for New York 14th Authorized by Diana Windsor
"Firstly, to answer his question: Yes, I have plenty of dignity. The Senator on the other hand, needs to learn to stop ranting on and on in his press office. He'll begin to scare a few people. It's quite evident that he likes putting greater fiscal burdens on the tax payers instead of showing mercy. Some will say mercy is a weakness - others realize mercy is a gift. The Government does not have a license to kill--we were created for the people, by the people, for the people, not to kill the people.
"Sure, there are some people who commit some really vicious crimes and cause the suffering of many families - but which is the worst punishment: Being killed or having to waste away in a small jail cell thinking everyday of the people they killed? I would personally say the latter is. The way we use the death penalty is unparalleled in any other civilized nation - it brings us down to the standards of nations like Iran and Syria - nations the Republicans are protesting we should attack for their lack of concern for the rights of their people. Take the beam out of your own eye."
