NCC Founding Luncheon
Marriot Hotel Ballroom, Washington
Represenatives were invited to attend the founding of the NCC, the "New Christian Coalition" which was founded by Rep. Ken Green and other's in the Republican Right met at the ballroom to discuss the organizations new charter and election strategy.
Rep. Green purposely invited centrist congressmen from the Republican Party and made sure he spoke with each before his keynote address. When talking to them he invited them to join the NCC, he also relayed his feelings on allowed abortions in the case of rape or death of the mother. He also relayed his new plans for welfare reform, a new bill guaranteeing citizenship for legal aliens fighting for the US Armed Services, and an affirmation of willingness to work with all. His goal was to increase his influence amongst these ranks growing his coalition and helping the NCC gain many new members.
The lunch menu consisted of a down home bar-b-que consisting of Ribs, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, BBQ Chicken, and Louisiana Boil...
The Congressmen were allowed to speak on Christian Values, American Morals and History, and the state of the house. Ken Green was then invited up as the keynote speaker to give some remarks.
"Newspapers say that the Christian Coalition is null in void. That it is being broken up by the Democrats! Well my friends, i invite any of our esteemed collegues from across the isle to join this new union. I support the Christian Coalition in every way. However i feel that the time is now for unity. In this election year many of your seats are up for grabs. I think that its time we take our campaign to the grassroots. Lets dig in deep men and women! Lets get in the trenches. Lets show EVERY Christian not just mega churches that we care. However we must also show them love. We must show all love. Now what does the NCC stand for? Good ol American morals and values. The Values of our great forefathers. The morals of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and even Rick Warder!"
The crowd laughed at the comment knowing that Rick was one of the more leftist republicans.
"Brothers and Sisters of this house. Its time we learn to work with all. Tolerance is a must HOWEVER we must not bend to the point that we betray our faith. We must not bend our morals to the point that we forget good wholesome American values! So my friends i ask that as we found this NCC that you all join in with me in sending a message. We are Christians and American's first, and we will use our christian morals, our god given dictates to help our people. However we will be understanding of others. Does that mean we have to agree? NAY, i say that means we must understand and allow them the rights to be free as every other American is free, but do we have to agree with abortion? NO! Do we have to agree with Gay Marriage? NO! We have the same God given and United States defended rights to choose and be free according to our own religious and moral dictates. To every congressman i state, we are willing to work with all to ensure that rights are preserved. But we will do it according to our moral constitution and to our convictions. Thank you for comming, good day!"
The room clapped and Ken waded out into the crowd and began speaking with his collegues while enjoying good ol' Bar B Que. The NCC had started off with a bang....
