*Senator Williams today discussed campaign finance with representatives of Nike, Adidas and Reebok. The discussion was held in a suite at the Los Angeles Hilton, the four men sat around a small coffee table drinking Johhny Walker Blue and smoking cuban cigards whilst discussing support for the Senator's upcoming campaign*
Sporting retailers (not in unison you tits! This is the gist : "We represent the vast majority of the retail clothing market as you know, and we can offer you a great deal of support with regards to campaign finance by donations through a variety of channel, but we are investors, not a charity group. Our support comes with conditions, namely what is your position with regards to free trade and labour standards in foreign countries?"
Owen Williams: "I am now and will always be a supporter of free trade"
SRs: "That is all well and good as a position on the campaign trail but what does that mean for us?"
Owen Williams: "It means that my position, with or without your support, is one of supporting the removal of trade barriers and market regulations, both here and abroad "
SRs: "Yes but what does this mean for us and the companies we represent? We want specifics, we want vocal support. You carry weight with the free trade caucuses in Congress and we value your support."
Owen Williams: "I equally value your support, and of course I expect that we can come to some arrangement to ensure that you will have my vocal support in the future, and I will have a satisfactory warchest with which to ensure I am still in the Senate to give you that support".
*the Senator and the representatives then began haggling over the size of contributions to be made by each of the three companies*
OOC: I though I'd try something different Obviously I expect this to be taken as a rumour rather than completely public knowledge, that said I am fulling expecting a scenario in the near future involving sweat shops and my having to support them .
