Mr. Speaker,
Our nation stands under threat from the rogue regimes of Syria and Iran.
As a united force, they are currently sharing nuclear weapons, acting in hostile fashion towards our friends and allies, ignored diplomatic pleas and threatened the security of the United States of America.
Our allies have bound together with us to combat this threat and currently, President Warder is asking the United Nations for action.
No matter the outcome of the U.N. talks, the United States must be prepared to protect and defend herself. To do this, I have proposed the authorization for President Warder to take action against Syria and Iran, so he can use this as a diplomatic tool to scare them into disarming their nuclear weapons. This authorization is a vital tool to solve an emminent threat to our national security.
If diplomacy fails, President Warder must have all options open to him. Nuclear weapons in the hands of terror supporting nations led by rogue regimes, like Syria and Iran, must be acted upon quickly and decisively. There can be no hesitation and our Commander in Chief must have the full authority to use all options, to show how seriously our country is taking this threat.
I emplore the Congress to act decisively, to act swiftly and to act in the best interest of our national security.
I yield.
