Press Release Office of the Vice President
BETHESDA, MARYLAND - Vice President Oswald underwent a routine checkup today in which the doctor cited that the 78 year old was in "good health". When asked by reporters, the Vice President said he is looking forward to continuing his work on key pieces of legislation in the Senate.
Mirroring remarks made by Secretary of Defense McCain, Vice President Oswald urged Congressional leaders to allocate more funding to protective equipment for US soldiers in the field. "This armor won't just appear out of nowhere. Congress needs to act to make sure the troops are getting top notch military equipment. It's what we need to do to protect our brave men and women and give their families peace of mind." The Vice President urged Senate members to introduce a resolution appropriating additional funding as soon as possible.

PRESS RELEASE Office of the Vice President
THE SAFE GAMES ACT - PROTECTING AMERICA'S CHILDREN
The Safe Games Act is an important step towards protecting our nation's youth and giving control of explicit and graphical content back to our country's mothers and fathers. Parents should be able to know that their children do not have access to violent and sexually explicit video games without their consent. We've already passed laws prohibiting children from buying pornographic magazines, so why is Senator Shackleton clamoring that the Safe Games Act is 'unconstitutional' and a 'breach of the first amendment'? On a similar note, minors are also not allowed to purchase alcohol or tobacco products. It therefore naturally makes sense to prohibit the direct sale of mature video games to children. If the parents wish to purchase these games for their children, they may go ahead and do so if they desire.
Nearly 75% of boys name an M-rated game as their favorite video game. M-rated games often contian mutilation, human injury, death, rape, sex, profanity, drugs, alcohol, tobacco consumption, and other lewd materials. According to the 10th Annual MediaWise Video and Computer Game Report Card, children are able to purchase such games one out of every two attempts.
A new study of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students found that not only did repeated exposure to violent video games increase aggressive behavior, but it also decreased empathic helpful behavior (Anderson, Gentile, & Buckley).
It is therefore essential that legislation be taken up to address this matter. We are not prohibiting first amendment rights because we are not saying children cannot partake in such video game experiences, but merely we are seeking to enforce the ESRB rating system in the same way that children are prohibited from buying pornographic magazines.

PRESS RELEASE Office of the Vice President
WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Vice President today continued his urgent call for Congress to draft a resolution appropriating more funding towards military equipment, body armor, and other protective gear. The Vice President referred to former Secretary of Defense John McCain as a "great man" and that we should "move forward with the initiatives he began to pursue while he held his Cabinet position". Legislation of this nature will not only protect the men and women of our armed forces but give their families peace of mind and allow the United States to complete its mission against terror in Iraq and other nations abroad.

The VP in his home state was barraged by an army of reporters. Frustrated, he decides to take a few questions from them:
Q:"Mr. Vice President, you've been away from D.C. a lot lately. Have you had a falling out with the President and are you being kept away from the White House?"
A:"Next time, I hope I'm not last one to know about a feud I'm having. This is utter nonsense, next question."
Q:"A new article in the Chicago Tribune has indicated that new polling numbers suggest that Democrats are going to win big in the South next election. Your comments on this sir?"
A:"The Tribune was also responsible for printing a headline entitled, "DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN". Next question."
Q:"Mr. Vice President, many people are wondering if you have any Presidential ambitions further down the road..."
A:"I don't you what you're saying when you say 'further down the road'. I'm getting close to the end of a dead-end street and the breaks on my truck just went out."
(laughter)
Anyone else?--good. Now get to typing." (smiles)

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE-
Vice President Edgar Oswald attended the first annual Christians for America convention fundraiser in Memphis, Tennesee on Tuesday. He spoke, "The founding fathers believed that the church and state should be two seperate entities, but just because I work for the government doesn't mean I cannot express my first amendment right to practice my religion the same way any other American can. Some would say I'd have be politically correct and call it a Holiday Tree, but I choose to call it a Christmas tree because I am a Christian and this is what the tree means to me. Therefore, let us exercise our beliefs the same way we always have and not be discouraged just because critics believe the voices we lift to God are too loud or too widespread. Let us take pride in our liberty to preach the good news and to choose leaders who support our causes and to protect our Homeland and our children."

PRESS RELEASE OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT
Vice President Edgar Oswald is urging the governor of Washington to veto the same sex marriage bill that has been presented before him.
"With this law, marriage will be reduced to something of a partnership that provides attractive tax benefits and sexual convenience. After marriage has been redefined, a marriage license will take on the status of a driver's license or a hunting permit. With the traditional family out of the way, all rights and priveleges of marriage will accrue to gay and lesbian partners without the legal entanglements and commitments normally associated with it.
We must protect the sanctity of marriage, and my sincere hope is that the governor will act in the interest of America's families."

VP Oswald Responds to Shea's Comments
"Senator Shea has responded to Republican campaign ad about protecting America by saying how all Republicans are a bunch of cronies, liars, and crooks. He further responds to the issue of national security by emphasizing how we're trying and to undercut the working class of America and are outsourcing jobs to who-knows-where.
Senator Shea is attacking Republicans and calling them names not because he doesn't want to iterate his party's position for protecting America in this time of terror, but because his party doesn't have a position. He suggests that we employ a 'wait and see' strategy. Or, we need to 'wait until things get better on their own'. Or maybe even, 'let the UN handle it'. What he doesn't tell you is that the UN resolution is dead in the water after the Chinese have vetoed it, Israel's on the verge of all-out war, and nukes are going off halfway around the round while we twiddle our thumbs! Not to mention, Senator Shea is sitting in his fancy office paid for and furnished by the hard-working men and women he claims to defend. These people who make up the backbone of America pay Union dues to the AFL-CIO so that Mr. Shea may have bigger campaign signs or longer TV spots come reelection time. No Senator Shea, it is you who is underriding the working class by supporting a system which forces laborers to pay into big labor unions which do nothing more than ensure that you're not the one without a job. Senator Shea, isn't the system supposed to work the other way around? Not only that, you won't even give them a plan to defend America that will hold up in this time of crisis OR at least iterate your position in a rebuttal.
Shame on you sir."

PRESS OFFICE VICE PRESIDENT EDGAR C. OSWALD
For Immediate release
###
The White House, notably an effort by the Office of the Vice President, is looking to spearhead a new compromise effort to get China to withdraw its veto and change its UN vote on the fate of Iran and disarmament.
Under the Vice President's plan, the administration would be willing to recognize China as the predominant power in Central Asia in addition to recognizing China as Iran's primary trading partner. In addition, the Vice President hinted at letting the Chinese in on a few economic deals including trade rebates, broader recognized authority on the Asian continent, and an investment in the Chinese pipeline in Iran.
"If this sitution can be resolved it will be a major diplomatic coup for the US and the Chinese. Unless some other foreign power steps up to the plate, this is probably the last diplomatic option left to the American people before we are forced to go to war," commented the Vice President in regards to the deal. "If a peaceful solution cannot be achieved, the American people including myself are ready to go to war."
The Chinese embassy issued no comment, though their ambassador stated that "China is always looking for ripe deals in a global market of today's age."

Oswald Speaks on New Legislation
The MPCA makes pseudoephedrine (PSE) and ephedrine “schedule V controlled substances” – meaning they must be kept behind pharmacy counters. It requires that all single and multi-active ingredient products, tablets, liquids and gel caps be placed behind the pharmacy counter. Although customers wishing to purchase such products do not need a prescription, they must display a photo ID and sign a log. It also requires placing adult-strength cold tablets containing ephedrine or PSE as their only active ingredient behind store counters. The law also limited to two packages per transaction the purchase of adult-strength cold tablets containing ephedrine or PSE as the sole active ingredient and tablets with ephedrine or PSE in combination with other active ingredients.
“This law ensures that Illinois is keeping up with the criminals who will go to any length to access the precursors they need to make their drugs.”
