BLITZER: "This is Wolf Blitzer, and you're watching CNN. In what appears to be a run up to the heated election season, the GOP has released an attack ad in Pennsylvania and Iowa, two swing states vital for the Democrats if they wish to regain their majority in Congress. The ad focuses on the situation in Iran. A view of nuclear weapons, followed by a picture of Ahmadinejad, followed by a mushroom cloud. Many commentators have stated that the ad bears a resemblance to Lyndon B. Johnson's infamous 'Daisy' ad, which alluded that 1964 Republican presidential contender Barry Goldwater would put the United States into nuclear war with the Soviet Union if elected. In a similar way, the GOP ad tries to make the case that delay in dealing with the Iranian weapons of mass destruction would be fatal. Today, Thomas Cade, the president's chief of staff, is with us, along with former Senator Donovan O'Connell, who ran against President Warder in 2008. Senator O'Connell, what is your view of this attack ad?"
O'CONNELL: "Heh. Well, Wolf, it's a cheap trick, if you ask me. The Republicans are going for scare tactics again. And if you recall, when Warder was running, he said he wouldn't start any new wars. 'No new wars unless America is attacked first.' Well, Wolf, America hasn't been attacked first, and Iran won't attack us because while they're stupid enough to develop nuclear weapons, they sure aren't stupid enough to launch them. So this is more smoke and mirrors from our Californian pretender."
BLITZER: "Mr. Cade?"
CADE: "President Warder said he wouldn't start any new wars unless America is attacked first - America has been attacked. The Iranians are sending terrorists across the Iraqi border constantly. This is costing us lives, and it's costing our allies lives as well."
BLITZER: "Do you think Iran will attack America?"
CADE: "They are attacking America. Right now. In Iraq, around the world, all over. They are probably plotting our destruction as we speak. Ahmadinejad is a certified America hater, and he will stop at nothing to get his revenge for 1979. Well, Wolf, President Warder won't let that happen. Unlike the war that President Bush launched against Iraq, we know that Iran has weapons of mass destruction, because they did us and the world the service of testing them and publishing the result--"
O'CONNELL: "That test could easily be a fake--"
CADE: "And if you think that, Senator O'Connell, you're in denial. We could be hours or days away from Iranian agents smuggling a nuclear weapon into an American city and blowing it up. And we're even closer to Iran nuking Iraq or Israel. What we need now is swift and decisive action."
BLITZER: "All right folks. We need to take a quick break..."
