WASHINGTON, D.C. - Citing health concerns resulting from a recent but mild stroke, Secretary of Defense John McCain tendered his resignation. Republicans expressed consternation, since faith had been high that the former Armed Services Committee member would usher in a successful Iraq policy. A visibly weakened John McCain said, "I am exiting politics in order to recuperate and heal after this sudden shock. In the coming years, I hope to return to the Senate for the people of Arizona. For now, though, my doctor has ordered me to relax, and for that it's best that I get out of Washington, D.C. and return home."
Former defense contractor and congressman Avery Adams was appointed by President Rick Warder to fill John McCain's shoes. "I have the utmost confidence in Mr. Avery. He is going to be a forward-thinker and a problem solver," President Warder said. "Given his track record, and given my personal conversations with him, I know that Mr. Avery is the right man for this job."
