McCain Urges Senate Action on Recruitment
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sec. of Defense John McCain urged the Senate to act to resolve difficulties in military recruitment. "We must provide our men with better equipment and better salaries so that they will have the best protection while they fight for freedom," Mr. McCain said. "I call on the Senate to first pass a proposal to increase funding for body armor, military vehicles and protective equipment, including research grants to these ends. This will ensure that American soldiers have the best protection against violent death that money can buy. This is the least we can do for those who put their lives on the line for our country and our ideals."
