As your character boosts his reputation through passing legislation, standing up for his beliefs on the floor and reacting to current events, other politicians will probably start to pay attention to him. The more active and engaged your senator is, the stronger is the likelihood that non-player senators and representatives will join his "coalition". These senators and representatives will vote with you - so you will not just speak for yourself, but also for the senators and representatives who have decided to make common cause with you.
