Christian sect claims end of world drawing nigh

ATLANTA, GA - A group of Christian fundamentalists from the 'Dawn of Christ Returned' sect have gathered together in an empty field near Atlanta, Geo. to await the return of Jesus Christ. The group's speaker, Dan Whitman, called the "nuclear crisis in Iran a sign of the end times." He said that nuclear war would soon engulf the world and that, as a result, Jesus Christ would return to redeem all men's souls. "President Rick Warder is just a tool of the Lord," Mr. Whitman said. "He campaigned against Christians in his campaign and he is the most deeply immoral president we have ever had, but it's the Lord who's in charge of history, and President Warder is just a tool of the Lord our God, whether he likes it or not, and he's being used to bring about the end times." Mr. Whitman added, "Glory be! Hallelujah!"
The group has drawn the attention of local police. About 250 cult members have gathered on the field, living on water and bread. There are roughly 60 children involved. The police are contemplating intervention, said a speaker for the City of Atlanta: "Obviously, if the children are in danger at any point, we will have to intervene."

Asking for a meeting...
Rep. Kenneth Green flew to Atlanta, GA this morning to sit down with the leaders of the Dawn of the Return of Jesus Christ church. Ken Green arrived in a simple black lincoln with few staff. Guards were nearby but not visable. Arriving at the encamped field, Ken saw a little boy walking around with dirt on his face. The boy smiled looking up at the Senator in his fancy suit. "That's a fancy suit sir. You look like a preacher."
Ken kneeled down on one knee and wiped some dirt from the boy's face, Camera's rolling. He looked up and saw some of the adults of the camp walking over. The Sheriff of the County that had acompanied him looked nervous. "Still sheriff, people die for thier faiths and dont mind taking out people with them."
Ken extended a hand to a male who arrived first. "What are you doing here? Here to arrest us?" Ken shook his head no and looked at everyone. "I'm Represenative Ken Green a member of Congress, i am a Deacon at Heritage Christian Center in Denver, and most importantly i am a fellow beliver in the Lord Jesus Christ and his word. I have come in peace, to talk about what you are doing here, and to see if i can help. Please, is there anything that i can do? Can i speak to Mr. Whitman or to the leader of your group?"

Dan Whitman was gratified that Ken Green had arrived to talk to them regarding the "end of the world", as prophesied. In Mr. Whitman's tent, Mr. Green and he began to discuss world politics. "With the nuclear war impending, Jesus will soon come to earth to reclaim all the faithful," Mr. Whitman told Mr. Green. "Will you be among them? You should still join us while there's still time, before the rapture. I have seen the face of the Lord our God and he has told me that the armies of Allah will cause the apocalypse! And until then we will stay on this field, singing hymns and praying to God for our salvation! Hallelujah!"

Ken sat in the tent listening to the wack job's theology. He decided it was his turn to speak next. "My friends, i believe that the Lord is indeed returning soon. He is returning to reclaim his own in the rapture. I believe that world events that are happening are because of bible prophecy. But i want to quote the lord in his word. "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Matthew 24:36"
Ken looked the man into his eyes. "To not believe that world events are not controlled by the lord is denying his word. But if we read his word we must read all of his word. His word says no man knows the date or the hour. Not you, not me, but God. And if God has said in his word that not even his son would know that means we wouldent know either. Now i want to implure you my brother, if you want to found a community then great. Do it the right way, not in tents but buildings. You want to prepare the lord's comming then fine, but make sure these people are taken care of. It will only be a matter of days before you starve on bread and water and then what? Please i implure you as one Christian to another, please heed my words. The lord says that until that moment we are to be doing his will which is spreading the gospel of Christ. How can you do that on a field. You should do that till the very moment of his return when God will say "Well Done my Good and Faithful Servant, enter into the Joy of your Lord."
