Minor Event: Augusta Christian Church, Indianapolis, IN
Speaking to church leaders and ordinary churchgoers, as well as a sizable number of reporters and supporters, Representative Reynolds continues his tour of regional churches.
“Some of you may remember that the Republican Ken Green visited Illinois earlier this year to do a little fundraising. He went down to Willow Creek Mega-Church and preached his radical views to them. He’s using our religion as a way of making MONEY. Well, I’m here to tell you that no matter how much the Republicans kow-tow to the corporate churches, Democrats will still stand with ordinary Churches. Churches that preach the word of God, not sell Him out to try and buy a new surround sound system. The Democrats stand with the vast majority of Christians, who believe that God should not become a political tool and that quoting Leviticus and calling yourself Christian doesn’t make you faithful. The Republicans and their radical stooges have hijacked our faith for far too long. This isn’t the religion of corporations; it is the religion of the humble and the generous.
Jesus taught us, in Luke 14:13, "...when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: and thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee." Rick Warder and his Radical Republican bedfellows cut aid to low income families by 10% in their budget that they shoved through Congress. They cut our aid to poor, predominantly Christian countries around the world by 50%. They cut transportation funds, critical to cities like Indianapolis with a large population of urban poor, by 40%. This is the party of the compassionate Christian? The Republicans want to have their feast and leave the poor to rot. It is our duty to oppose those who seek to undercut the rights of the poor, who are the Children of God just as much as you or I might be.”

Minor Event: American Legion Lodge; Colombus, Ohio
Democrat William Reynolds spoke to a large gathering of soldiers, both past and present, at a packed American Legion Lodge in Columbus, Ohio.
“Some of you may know me as General Reynolds, but I come before you today as a candidate for Congress and a representative of the Democratic Party. I know most of you are pretty angry with the Republicans, and who could blame you? They can find the money for all sorts of fancy projects, and the money to increase the number of those projects, but they can’t find the time to increase veteran’s benefits, or improve soldiers’ pay. They can’t get the best protection and weaponry to our brothers in arms in the field because they’re spending every dollar they can scrape together on new and fancy airplanes and our technocratic Secretary of Defense’s pet projects. The Republicans are trying to tell Americans that they’re the party we can trust with our foreign policy. They’re leaving out the fact that they’ve abandoned the likes of you and I to die in the mud while they dump defense contractor money into pork schemes to inflate their own egos and wallets. They don’t know what it means to be a soldier.
The Democratic Party took a very important step towards changing all that. I’m not sure how many of you have heard of the ‘Future Combat System’”
*Boos from audience*
“Oh I know, I was never a big fan either. Every soldier worth his weight knows that the FCS program was a waste of money, time, and lives. But the Republicans wanted to shove it down our throats again. But the Democratic Party opposed the Bill funding that program and we brought it down to a crashing defeat. The Democratic Party stood up and, despite having a minority in Congress, told those wastrel Republicans that we wouldn’t take any more of their crap. And we didn’t. If you stand up for the Democratic Party this Election Day, I swear to you that we will keep fighting for you, the soldiers that the Republicans have forgotten. God Bless.”

New Voter Registration Great Lakes Region $2,725,000
Representative William Reynolds went on a voter registration blitz throughout the Great Lakes region. The Great Lakes region has a large number of recent latin immigrants, many of whom have no registered to vote. Reynolds did focus on them alone, however, going to churches, suburban neighbors, and hitting up major cities. Reynolds has long been a proponent of getting voter turn out up, as can be witnessed through his Election Tuesday initiative within Congress, and it is expected that new voter registration and get out the vote movements will be a focus of his this year and in the years to come.

DNC Major Newspaper Ad, Chicago Tribune Great Lakes, Full Page $1,090,000 "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore; Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"Remember when these words used to mean something?"Republican Leader Rick McLaughlin wants to 'seal the border'. Republican Senator Uxbridge has called for a massive, multi-million dollar security fence to be built along the Mexican border. All the experts say this fence would be ineffective and a waste of money. That doesn't stop the Republicans from wanting one anyway. Republican William "Whitie" Power's speech " Keeping our Kinsmen Klean" in Texas should stand as an example to all Americans of the sort of positions the Republican Party advocates. The Republicans voted to reduce aid by 50% to foreign countries, but propose we spend huge sums of money to keep the immigrants fleeing poverty out. What the Republicans forget is that America is a nation founded on immigrantion. Every new wave of immigrants to this country have been greeted with hostility, but they have all been incorporated into our great culture just the same. The Republicans claim they're trying to fight Terrorism, but they're really just afraid. Show them that you're not afraid. Show them that there is never any excuse for discrimination or racism. Stand up and vote Democrat for safer, reasonable border dispute solutions that keep terrorists out while letting immigrants in. Come Election Day, tell the Republican Party that you're tired of paranoia and hostility. Vote Democrat for reasonable immigration policies and a strong, positive America." And like a lot of Americans, that means we're concerned about how your tax dollars are spent! In Washington, D.C., the Republican Party just approved the most fiscally responsible budget in decades. Minor Event: ACLU Sponsored Rally; Milwaukee, Wisconsin Great Lakes Region
Representative William Reynolds and other Democrats addressed a packed assembly of civil rights activisits, ordinary Americans concerned about security, and law enforcement officers.
"Benjamin Franklin once said 'those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.' I think it'd be un-American enough if the Republicans were just giving up their own liberty for safety, but they've given away our liberties too. Despite what the Republicans rant and rave about when they're talking about their wonderful budget, they fail to mention that they're still in control of the most liberty-restricting Federal Government we've ever had. And it's not getting any better.
A lot of you probably heard Representative McLaughlin, a leading Republican, tell America that he believed that our border with Mexico should be sealed. What next? Do we tear down the Statue of Liberty and ship it back to France? This is the same party that brought you the Patriot Act, and told the Federal government it had a right to look through your mail and your library records, so I suppose it shouldn't come as much of a surprise if they try something like that.
When the Republicans agreed to cut the deficit this year, what Democrats have been yelling at them to do for ten years to do, they tricked us all. What they actually did was cut out essential programs like transportation to meet their needs. What we need is smart government. Cut the support for the National Security Letters program. The government has no right tellin’ ordinary Americans what they can and can't talk about, and they haven't thwarted a single terrorist threat with this program.
A people should not be afraid of their government. A government should be afraid of its people. It's time we took back our nation. Join me in voting Democrat this Election Day and I promise you we will repair the damage that the Republicans have done to our great country."

Regional Tour Great Lakes Region $10,900,000
Representative William Reynolds and many of his fellow Democrats traveled all over the Great Lakes region giving speeches and hosting parties. Reynolds was well received by local party enthuisasts and spoke at a variety of locations. He finished his tour in downtown Chicago.
Excerpts from his speech follow:
"Well folks, I can say its great to be here. I have never, in my entire life, been as enthuisastic about an election as I have been about this one. The amount of support I've seen from Americans all over this great country has been absolutely amazing.
I want to tell you what the Democrats are all about. We're for increasing the transportation network in this country, not pretending that shutting down city buses somehow benefits people. We're for a real working environment for all Americans where Americans can make money and thrive, but also an environment where they know that the government is on their side.
We're for giving our troops in the field proper protection and real support, not spending huge amounts of money on ridiculous defense contractor projects that don't work. Did you know that the Secretary of Defense went on the news and told people that veteran benefit spending went up this year? Did you? I did too! Did you know that the amount of money we spend on providing for our veterans didn't go up by a single percentage point in the budget the Republicans shoved through Congress? You did hear that, huh? Yeah, that man infuriates me sometimes too. But mostly I just laugh.
Yes, I laugh ladies and gentlemen. I laugh because we're taking back this country. I laugh because Americans are standing up to tell the Republican Party that they don't want a country based on fear. They don't want a country that thinks kicking out immigrants leads to a more secure nation. We want a nation where the Secretary of Defense's pet projects aren't more important than the lives of real American soldiers. All across this great land of ours, I've seen Americans standing up for real American values. There's only thing we have left to do. You know what that is?"
*loud cheering*
"We have to get out and VOTE. I'll see you there!"
