AUSTIN, TX - Reporters mobbed Senator Kane Rowel as he left the home of the Texas governor, in an effort to get his take on the recent convictions of the Minutemen Murders.
"I stand by the decision of the people who had all the facts before them and stood their ground for what they believe in," said Rowel. "That was Arizona, however. Here in Texas we are moving to establish a policy of strict border patrol, one in which we hope the nation takes notice. The Border War is in full swing and us Texans will not stand idly by as the illegal aliens continue to erode our security, our economy, and our American way of life."

Strong words from Kane Rowel from the Texas Tribune
HOUSTON, TX - Rep. Kane Rowel, one of the increasingly influential 'Dixiecrats' of the Democratic Party, has been militating against illegal immigrants lately, calling out a "Border War" between legal immigrants and Americans on the one side and illegal immigrants and border-crossers without guest worker permits on the other side. Rep. Rowel's sometimes radical, often inflammatory and generally widely respected by Texans who feel that the illegal immigrant situation is still "out of control."
Proponents of a tough immigration stance have traditionally been Republican, but Rep. Rowel is making inroads on right-wing constituents whose make or break issue is immigration. "I used to vote GOP down the line," said Rick Baker, a mechanical engineer who works for Texas Instruments in Houston, "but now I'm voting Democrat, since I think Kane Rowel is changing the way the Democratic Party does business down here in the South. Even Senator Shea has come out strong against immigration," Mr. Baker said. "Meanwhile, President Warder's passing guest worker treaties and giving the illegals an excuse to come up here and stay."
